GPS-guided travel article apps are peculiar little digital friends that promise to make your journeys less bewildering. They are, in a sense, like having a helpful, albeit invisible, companion whispering directions and historical anecdotes into your ear, but without the awkwardness of sharing a cramped train compartment.
A selection of my blog posts have now been transformed into GPS-guided travel articles on the GPSmyCity app!
What is GPSmyCity?
The GPSmyCity app is a downloadable app offering a plethora of self-guided walking tours in an unnerving multitude of cities worldwide. Find it in your app store or at GPSmyCity.com. Then instead of being herded along with a gaggle of strangers by a tour guide, GPSmyCity allows you to conduct your own self-guided explorations. You can dawdle by a particularly intriguing duck statue or stride purposefully past a less-than-captivating monument, all at your own pace. Should you only wish to visit bridges, or perhaps only breweries, GPSmyCity probably has a tour tailored precisely to your own peculiar interests.

Instead of journeying to a distant, unfamiliar locale, I opted for a rather curious approach for this blog post. To illuminate the intricacies of the GPSmyCity app, I embarked upon the “City Introduction Walk” right here, in the exciting streets of Raleigh, North Carolina.

And rest assured, for unlike a regular blog post, these travel articles can be downloaded for offline use, safely tucked away within your device, much like a spare set of keys in a secret compartment. This also helps you avoid those rather unpleasant financial surprises that often accompany international data usage.

With a subscription, GPS-guided navigation is enabled for these digital guides. This means the app can show you exactly where you are on a map and, more importantly, precisely how to reach the next point of interest. With turn-by-turn voice navigation, it’s like having a well-informed local continually pointing the way, but without the risk of them leading you astray into a rug shop with particularly aggressive sales tactics.

While the GPS-navigation features require a small payment, the cost is often a mere pittance compared to the rather extravagant sums one might part with for a traditional guided tour.

And much of the content comes from travel bloggers and local experts, such as yours truly. This means you are not simply reading dry facts from a dusty guidebook, but rather gleaning insights, peculiar details, and sometimes even embarrassing anecdotes from individuals who have truly explored these places themselves. It also means less time poring over maps and reviews that may or may not be entirely accurate, and more time actually experiencing the world around you.

GPS-Guided Travel Articles
Should you find yourself with an insatiable and frankly bewildering desire for more digital travel guidance, I must inform you that I have indeed made available several GPS-guided travel articles. They await your perusal, should you be so inclined toward additional adventures. Simply click the associated links on selected articles on this site, or visit the GPSmyCity app. Please let me know if you would like a specific article added to the app.
I hope you find these GPSmyCity travel article apps to be a rather ingenious invention, allowing you to explore new places with a sense of informed independence, rather than being left to the whims of fate or the overly enthusiastic pronouncements of a tour guide.
Rest assured, this post is not, despite any cynical whispers to the contrary, a paid endorsement of GPSmyCity. All the thoughts and opinions expressed herein are, for better or worse, entirely my own. If you upgrade one of my articles on GPSmyCity, I will receive a few cents in commission. It merely lessens the continuous expense of this travel blog. Thank you, for whatever that’s worth.
