The Negroni is a cocktail of mystery and intrigue. Some say it was invented in Florence, Italy, in the early 20th century, while others claim it hails from the United States. Whatever its true birthplace, the Negroni is a classic cocktail recipe that is sure to please even the most discerning palate.

The Negroni is made with gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth so it has several ingredients in common with the Martinez. It is typically served in a rocks glass over ice and garnished with an orange twist. The gin gives the Negroni its smooth, yet potent flavor, while the Campari adds a bitter, herbal note, and the sweet vermouth provides a sweetness that balances the other flavors.

The Negroni is a deceptively simple cocktail, but it is one that is full of flavor and complexity. It’s an acquired taste, like the bitter pill we must sometimes swallow for our own good. Try this negroni cocktail recipe to drink on a cool evening or to sip after a long day.

  • These rocks glasses look fairly similar to the ones I have and love. If you prefer a different style, make sure you look for ones that hold somewhere between 6 to 12 ounces ounces, otherwise they’ll feel too big. The smaller sizes are hard to find but mine are 9 ounces and they are plenty large.
  • I’ve been meaning to pick up some large ice cube molds and this set comes with round and square molds to suit your mood.

    1. I haven’t tried it, but I think if you are able to get Seedlip NA spirits, substituting the gin for Seedlip Spice would ensure you don’t sacrifice flavour and mouth feel.
