What is Luxury?
I have a big update to share with you that will impact the future of this blog. I’m also going to define luxury since it is a major part of what and why I write.
Custom Window Coverings
One of the first things we did after moving in, even before getting any new furniture was to get some window coverings to replace the paper ones and the ones we had made out of torn sheets. We ended up going the custom route and are so happy we did.
Custom Entryway Coat Storage
Another project I completed a while back was designing, building, and mounting a custom hook rail for coats in our front entryway.
Our Drink Station
Our drink station was completed long after we moved in and I’m showing you what we did and how it’s organized, section by section.
Kitchen Floor Mats
We’ve made a few updates to the Downtown Luxury Slum but first let’s talk about kitchen floor mats. I’ll show you what we decided on, some things to consider when choosing your own kitchen floor mat, and I’ll share a few favourites.
More Potential Projects
A small downtown kit house and a large Victorian in North Carolina Wine country are two more slums with luxury potential.
Our Next Luxury Slum
The big renovation of the Downtown Luxury Slum is complete and although we still have a number of small projects to work on, it’s time to start looking for a new slum.
Since We’ve Moved In
We’ve been busy but I just wanted to share a few updates about life since moving in.
Certificate of Occupancy
Some final touches (like heat) lead to the house finally being livable. Why we need heat in the south in March is beyond me, but it seems to be important this year.
