One could easily spend a king’s ransom on a single bowl of brodetto, or perhaps barter one’s firstborn child for a decent glass of local wine. (Please don’t actually do that. Child-bartering is generally frowned upon, even in picturesque locales.) But fear not, for there are places where one can enjoy a satisfying meal without having to sell one’s child to cover the bill. This guide is therefore my modest attempt to steer you toward affordable restaurants in Dubrovnik where your tummy will be happy and your wallet will at least refrain from weeping openly.
Here’s my list of affordable restaurants in Dubrovnik.
- Buffet Škola – For a sandwich so good it will make you slap your knee, this Dubrovnik eatery is the spot. With a few tables inside and out, you can enjoy your delicious and affordable meal in the sunshine or shade.
- Paninaro Sandwich Bar Dubrovnik – An affordable option, the sandwiches come with so much bread, you may not need to eat for the rest of the day. The establishments provides cushions on the stairs out front for seating, but alas, that is the extent of the seating offered.
- TuttoBene Pizzeria & Fast Food – Quick and affordable, the pizza here is surprisingly palatable. However, the rest of the menu remains a culinary mystery, as my culinary explorations did not extend beyond the aforementioned pizza.
- Barba – This casual establishment is not quite as economical as others I’ve mentioned but it boasts numerous tables and a delightfully relaxed ambiance, accented by sporks, embellished by former patrons, adorning nearly every surface. I must confess, we did not love our food, though we may have been victims of our own poor choices, but the service was truly exceptional.
