Last year, Andrew made me a heart shaped pizza for Valentines Day. In all previous years, even before we started dating, we would get together with a group of friends we love, get dinner at the local K&W cafeteria – multi-course dinner for two for $16 – and then visit a variety of dive bars, ending the night at the restaurant on the top floor of the Holiday Inn. That still feels pretty unsafe this year but there’s got to be something fun we can do to celebrate.
Here are a few ideas I came across:
- An Adventurous Scavenger Hunt – This could be done day or night, with just two people or with a whole group, and is entirely outdoors.
- Axe Throwing Training – Not remotely safe in general, but from a covid standpoint, this could be another option. It’s offered in the afternoon and evening, Wednesday through Sunday, and takes place outdoors with groups of up to eight people.
- Trolley Pub Tour – This is an outdoor activity offered daily at various times throughout the day. Up to 14 people can participate.
- An Obstacle Course – Another outdoor activity with availability from 3-10pm on weekdays and 8am-10pm on weekends and unlimited group sizes.
If we decide we still want to get food and drinks as a group, there are a number of Raleigh restaurants that have upped their patio game since the pandemic started.
Standard Beer and Food, Flying Saucer Draft Emporium, or MoJoe’s Burger Joint could potentially work as gathering points for dinner, and then we could potentially make drink stops at Williams and Company, The Willard Rooftop Lounge, and/or the Longleaf Hotel and Lounge.
