Hey guys,

Another thing that we didn’t do as part of our original slum renovation was a backsplash in the kitchen. Partly because we wanted to save the money and I thought I could do it myself, partly because of decision fatigue and I just didn’t want to think about it. We’ve been using the kitchen for a year and a half at this point and the painted wall behind the stove actually stays shockingly clean most of the time, and has been easy to wipe up even when it does get dirty. Even so, I think it’s about time we add some sort of backsplash.

Because it’s been seemingly easy to keep clean, I’m not tied to something that hides dirt super well or something that is super easily cleanable. I’m honestly more focused on something that looks pretty.

Here are some inspiration pictures that I’m drawn towards:

Tile

Sure, white subway tile is definitely an option, but we’ve got lots of white so I’m kind of drawn to something that adds a little more colour or feels a little more luxurious. I’m obviously eyeing sparkly things:

Copper

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Copper is the best. I will never give up trying to find good ways to incorporate copper into our home.

We could do a sheet of copper or we could do copper tiles of some sort. So many to choose from:

Fun wallpaper

Getting to decorate a home where I can use this wallpaper has now been added to my bucket list. (Editor’s note: Diana doesn’t know what a bucket list is)

While I don’t think this particular wallpaper would work in our kitchen, here are a few other picks I’d consider. Obviously there’s at least one magnetic and one scratch-and-sniff wallpaper here:

Love the real backsplash and the flowered wallpaper !

    1. The editor has vetoed wallpaper.

  2. I vote copper!

I like the one in the picture with the sink the best.

Are you closer to a decision?

    Oh, the suspense!

    1. I’m sort of leaning towards copper too but I’m a little concerned it will make it feel too dark.
